Here’s a little off-topic, but on-season, post for you this week.
Some of you may know that one of my hobbies is music and a passion for exotic instruments. I thought I’d share a little of that as a sort of holiday spirit kind of thing, so here’s a little music file for you. I’m playing an oud, a middle eastern lute played with a plectrum, in an improvisation that hasn’t quite stabilized into a composition. This just seemed cheerful enough for some good holiday vibes so I hope you enjoy it!
Oud at First Light by Lee Varis
Lee, this is beautiful playing! Is this your own piece, or traditional? I’ve been playing oud for a few years, but focusing more intensely on it recently. I’d love to pick your brain on the subject if there’s ever a chance. Hope all’s good with you and Bobbi!
Hi David – my own sort of improvisation. I haven’t been playing out much lately, enjoying guitar at the moment, but I’m also playing a little Lavta : https://youtu.be/fgtni2f30no?si=IEZUTeKJ14_Rwx5f
